Our aim is to support the needs of dyslexic children and young people in the education sector and adults in the workplace. We offer advice and guidance to parents, partners and friends of dyslexics. We also work closely with a number of local employers to raise the awareness of dyslexia within the world of work.

IAG (Information, Advice & Guidance) is a free service for anyone over 20, who has less than 5 GCSEs or not yet achieved an NVQ level 2 qualification. It is designed to assist clients to make occupational, educational and training choices to manage their careers. It could help with: developing new skills, make a career change, earn more, get more out of life and possibly identify training and learning needs. It's about self development, and may help to improve job prospects, get a qualification or make the most of current employment. It can help to improve confidence and motivation and identify barriers and help to overcome them. We can offer a face-to-face, confidential advice interview and can even help with CVs, interview or job search skills if unemployed. Call us now on 01604 820 158.

NDA Helpline goes for Quality
NDA has been accepted as a full member of the prestigious national Telephone Helpline Association (THA). This is part of our drive to improve the quality of our services to people in the county. The THA provides training and a quality assurance award to helplines throughout the UK. NDA will be sending its helpliners on THA training courses in 2007. In 2008 NDA aims to apply for the THA quality assurance award. All this work is made possible by the development work taking place in our INCA project( INcreasing CApacity to support dyslexic adults in work and learning). INCA is funded by the European Union's social fund. For information on THA visit their website: www.helplines.org.uk

Project INCA
NDA has been awarded an European Social Fund grant for a project to develop its services for dyslexic adults in the county. The grant is administered through the Learning and Skills Council and CeeMac. Some of the enhanced services are now available.

We maintain a list of qualified dyslexia tutors and assessors.

As an Association we are active in raising dyslexia awareness in the workplace and have arranged events to promote understanding in local business. We have also provided information desks offering advice at libraries throughout Northamptonshire.

We have successfully obtained funding that has assisted with the development of this website and investment in specialised resources for use by tutors.

Our current projects include re-launching the Adult Support Group and establishing a Parents' Group.

The NDA is affiliated to the British Dyslexia Association (BDA) and forms part of a network of almost 100 local Dyslexia Associations throughout the UK. We work closely in partnership with the BDA.
